Microsoft To Make All Of Its Events Digital Until 2021

The company hopes to prevent COVID-19 from spreading

Microsoft won’t have any offline meetings or events until August 2021. Due to coronavirus, all the planned activities will take place online, announced the company in the email to its employees.

Microsoft MVS Ginny Caughey shared a part of the email on her Twitter.

“In light of the challenges presented by COVID-19, Microsoft has been closely monitoring the developing global situation and re-assessing the overall company-wide in-person event strategy. As a company, Microsoft has decided to transition all external and internal events to a digital-first experience through July 2021”, reads the email.

Last week, Microsoft confirmed to ZDnet reporters that it was going to shift all the 2020 events online. The company decided to extend this period to prevent the spreading of coronavirus.

It means the future Microsoft Ignite event, as well as Microsoft MVP & RD Summit that was going to happen in March and April 2021, will be held virtually. All the Xbox events will also take place on the Internet.

Microsoft will renew all the offline events when “the situation allows it”.

Because of COVID-19, lots of significant tech events were moved or simply canceled.

The two biggest developers’ conferences of Google and Facebook meant to take place in May are canceled. Apple’s WWDC will be streamed for all the developers around the world to join in. Mobile companies Xiaomi and Huawei were forced to hold their new product presentations online.

Meanwhile, auto producers furlough thousands of their employees because of the pandemic.
